It'll help you understand 2 better if you play the original first, but it is not necessary. Ezio collection gives you ac 2, brotherhood and revelations, which is the order to play as Ezio is a young man in 2, and matures through the storyline in the three games. The Xbox version of AC 1 is the best.

AC 2 is the one I recommend modding. Brotherhood and Revelations don't need much modding and can probably be almost maxed at 1080 and get 60 fps on the 770. (Consoles are 30fps). It will look as good as the consoles. The Ezio Collection on PS4 and Xbox One have somewhat reworked textures and models (very slightly).

The Ezio collection comes with all dlcs for the three games so that’s just a way to access them all. I know there are a bunch of outfits you can get, a few perks like extra bullets and storage for medicine etc. Oh and also you get a special mission on AC : Revelations where you can access Vlad the Impalers tomb to unlock his sword.
