It would appear that you probably have a fuel starvation problem, if the engine is running normally and suddenly revs up and cuts out this points to a very weak mixture then fuel starvation. Although the new BMW G 650 X is around the corner and appears (on paper) to be an improvement (lighter by about 55Lbs (~25 kilos)), I just bought a loaded '03 Dakar (for a great price) and really enjoy it. I can comfortably cruise the autobahn at 120-140kph (74-87 mph) all day long without the excessive buzz a lot of singles possess.
